The last week was an interesting one and I had planned on going into great detail for everyone's enjoyment. I was on Microsoft Word, typing away, well into my story when CRASH...my whole computer shut down. Completely lost every word I had been working on. I am sure my computer savvy friends could probably find my story somewhere but I couldn't. So here is the shortened version.
Thursday, 1/22, in the middle of dinner I start having major stomach cramps. I knew they were too high on my "belly" to be contractions but they were very rhythmic. I timed them. I tried everything to make them go away. After five hours I called my doctor. Of course they said "we can't diagnose over the phone...come to the hospital." By now it was after 11:00 PM. Who in the world would watch the boys??!! Ohhhh...we were so unprepared! We found a friend, who is also pregnant, to come hang at our place. Worked our way the 20 plus miles to the hospital. I kept having the pains on the way there. Once inside I was amazed about what a great hospital I was going to! They knew who I was in registration and whisked me right up to the maternity floor. Once I got onto the floor I had three nurses walking with me into my room. The nurse tending to me had already checked my history and knew enough that if was in labor I would need a c-section. She had cleared the room of unnecessary furniture before I even got there. I was hooked up to two monitors - a fetal heart rate and contraction monitor. The baby was doing great - we all watched in amazement as my stomach went nuts with baby movement. And no, I wasn't having contractions After two hours, drawing some blood and hooking me up to an IV it was determined that I may have a gall bladder issue. WHEW! I knew I wasn't in labor but boy was I in pain!
The pain was gone a few days later and I was uber grateful to know that I was going to have this baby at a great hospital!
The other big news of the week is that we got our moving date - March 7. Yes, a mere 16 days before I am due to have the baby. Oh, and on top of that, it is the end of the term at school. I won't be stressed, will I!!!
I am hoping for a calmer week this week!
Til Then -
